Release Date: May 17, 2011
“The Glories” is the newest release from Matthew Joel, the prolific young songwriter from Chilliwack, British Columbia. An organic combination of his prior works, “The Glories” is a four part mini-opus that blends styles that he’s touched on prior to this release. The folk leanings of his two LPs, “On Seeing” and “The Axe and the Evergreen” and the post-rock touch of his EP, “The Rocky Mountains”. All of these styles come to a point in this experimental release: each song, though able to stand a coherent song on its own, serves a part in the whole. In other words, if you play all four tracks on this EP at the same time, you’ll experience a unique song in and of itself. Think Low meets Zaireeka! Whatever comparisons you may make, this is a truly original work, from a young artist who has only scratched the surface of his potential talent.
