MP3: Neon Canyon - Photosynthesis
I felt the softness of a new land, an undiscovered place. I ran my hand through the cold crushed stone, felt the powder coat my naked skin. I saw the far moon, and I saw the shadow of the close moon. I saw three places at once.
Over the last year, the one record that seems to call me back, over and over, is an self-titled EP from NEON CANYON. Comprised of friends Mark Webber and Jon Sherman, NEON CANYON first made its way into my consciousness through this song. I was instantly struck by the juxtaposition of the frantic percussion, with the softness of the melodies. The whole EP is breathtaking in that aspect; sounds and feelings that shouldn’t mix flow interwoven.
The guys have made another EP, and a single, since this release. Mark has also released a new tape with his equally beautiful project, Memory Screen.
